welcome to day 3, or round 2 of the olympic team events, it was a nice enough day we got a little rain for a little bit in the crowd but not enough to force umbrellas and rain coats... or at least they weren't needed but they were busted out by most of the crowd at the first sign of a dark cloud and maybe a few drops of water, that is all.
Canada did quite well!
For those that don't know our 2nd rider of our team Tiffany Foster was disqualified yesterday, 15 minutes before she was supposed to walk into the ring on her mount. She was taken out due to a failure of a "sensitivity exam" in other words vets and officials poked at the horse until he wouldn't let anyone touch his leg and they said it was too sensitive when really it was the fact that they poked at it and he got pissy with them, which is fair enough! If a bunch of weird people were poking at my leg I'd be bitchy too and not let them touch me again! But it wasn't all bad, the 3 riders for canada did alright! Jill had 8 and so did Eric, Ian went clear I believe and was amazing as well as his horse "Star Power" who was a champ today and yesterday.
We are all very proud of our Canadian equestrians especially Ian Millar in his 10th olympics at the age of 65 and Eric Lamaze who came back this year from the sudden death of his gold medal mount in the Beijing Olympics "Hickstead" who was lost to a brain aneurism in late 2011 and is missed greatly including from yours truly who loved and respected him very much. Our nations team brought home 5th today and due to the fact that we had only 3 riders as well as the other teams success throughout the 2 rounds we are very proud, it was also incredibly wonderful to watch Nick Skelton, Ben Maher and other British riders win gold at home, that was a great sight and a great day for the natives here in London who got to share that moment with them as it had come down to a sudden death jump off between Britain and the Netherlands.
Tonight we are headed to dinner and drinks with some of my mothers old friends then met back in the kitchen for a short, but fun night of "Celebrity" and yes a few beers.
Since this didn't post I am sorry this is late and since I have lost the thought train I will end it here with a nice,
goodbye!!!!
